Expert Private Tuition

The Andrew Martin Chess Academy offers an expert private tuition / coaching service which works like this:

  1. The student chooses from the Our Services menu option Tuition from either a FIDE Master / Regional Coach (PTN), International Master (PTI) or Grandmaster (PTGM) and for either a duration of one or five hours.
  2. An order is placed for whichever service from the Order Now menu item.
  3. Payment is made for that order (and any other in the basket) using the PayPal secure payment service from the My Orders menu item.

    Alternatively, payment may be made in the form of Ducats to the "AMCA" account on the PlayChess.Com server. We will be able to see who has made that payment.

  4. Relevant Members of Teaching Staff will receive an email informing them of the order.
  5. An appropriate Staff Member will allocate that order to his or her self.
  6. The Staff Member will contact the student by email and arrange a suitable time for the session.
  7. (In order for the lesson to take place, the student must have met the minimum Technical Prerequisites detailed below.)
  8. Before the start of the lesson, the student should logon to the PlayChess.Com server using their declared alias.

    Please note: We can arrange other mechanisms for on-line coaching such as the Internet Chess Club (ICC) server.

  9. The tutor will operate under the "AMCA" alias.
  10. The student should visit the AMCA private room which can be found at <supply details>
  11. The lesson will take place and, hopefully, the student will be encouraged to order further coaching.

Technical Prerequisites

For an enjoyable and interactive coaching session we recommend the following solution:

  1. (To place an order for any item, the student must be happy to use the PayPal secure payment system.)
  2. The student should use an existing or obtain an account on the superb PlayChess.Com server.
  3. The client software may be downloaded for free from the above link.
  4. You should choose a PlayChess alias or "handle" for yourself.
  5. You should update your Profile with this alias using the My Profile menu item.

'Icing on the Cake' Suggestion

To make the session even more enjoyable we suggest:

  1. The student becomes Skype enabled
  2. Update your profile to include your Skype alias.
  3. Now, you can converse with the tutor using audio in addition to using the PlayChess chat screen!
